Abstract

Abstract

Background: Low back pain is a common complaint experienced by pregnant women due to anatomical and physiological changes during pregnancy. More than 50% of pregnant women report experiencing this condition, which can interfere with daily activities, reduce quality of life, and even cause functional limitations. One non-pharmacological intervention that can be applied is prenatal exercise, which combines stretching, core strengthening, and relaxation exercises to help reduce low back pain. Method of Approach: This community service activity was carried out through health education on low back pain and training in prenatal exercise. Evaluation was conducted using the Verbal Description Scale (VDS) to assess changes in pain intensity before and after the activity. Objective: To improve the knowledge and skills of pregnant women in performing prenatal exercise as a non-pharmacological effort to reduce low back pain. Benefits: To provide knowledge and practical skills for pregnant women to perform simple exercises that can reduce low back pain, thereby improving their quality of life during pregnancy. Place and Time: The activity was conducted at PKD Bulurejo, Gondangrejo, Karanganyar, from May to August 2025. Outcome Target: Pregnant women are expected to be able to practice prenatal exercise independently, while Posyandu cadres can continue to assist the community as part of promotive and preventive efforts at the village level.
