PEMERIKSAAN KESEHATAN DAN EDUKASI PENGELOLAAN HIPERTENSI UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KUALITAS HIDUP LANSIA DI WILAYAH KECAMATAN CAKUNG
Abstract
Elderly people with persistent hypertension without proper management will have their heart work harder, causing damage to the blood vessels of the heart, brain, and eyes. Based on the problem of hypertension and its subsequent impact on the health of the elderly, the Community Service Team conducted health checks and education on hypertension management for the elderly to improve their quality of life. The health education program explained how to care for the elderly, the importance of regular health checks, quitting smoking, increasing physical activity, choosing a healthy and balanced diet, getting enough rest, and managing stress. The health check results revealed an average systolic blood pressure of 148.95 mmHg, diastolic blood pressure of 84 mmHg, body weight of 61.6 kg, and cholesterol of 220.7 mmHg. The pre-test results for the education program obtained an average score of 65, and the post-test results obtained an average score of 80. Elderly people with hypertension need support in managing their hypertension. Health checks and education activities are efforts that can be taken to support the elderly in managing their hypertension.
