Abstract

Background : Stroke is a cerebrovascular disorder that ranks third as a cause of death and is the leading cause of disability worldwide. One of its impacts is dynamic balance impairment. The Motor Relearning Program (MRP) can be used to retrain dynamic balance in stroke patients. Object :  This study aimed to determine the effect of MRP on dynamic balance in post-ischemic stroke patients. Method : A quasi-experimental design was used with a two-group pretest-posttest approach. A total of 22 participants were selected through purposive sampling and divided into a treatment group (MRP) and a control group (physiotherapy education). The MRP was conducted twice a week for 4 weeks. Dynamic balance was measured using the Timed Up and Go Test. Results : showed a significant improvement in the treatment group from 18.91 ± 2.70 seconds to 15.57 ± 3.10 seconds (p=0.001). The control group showed a smaller improvement (p=0.013). A significant difference was found between the two groups (p=0.001). Conclusion: MRP has a significant effect on improving dynamic balance in post-ischemic stroke patients and can be considered a physiotherapy intervention option.
