Abstract

Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death worldwide and in Indonesia. Complications of heart disease can be caused by electrolyte abnormalities or imbalances in potassium, magnesium, sodium, and calcium. This study aims to determine whether there is a difference in the average results of electrolyte tests (Na, K, Cl) between the Indirect Ion Selective Electrode (ISE) method and the Direct ISE method at Harapan Kita National Cardiovascular Center, using primary data from heart disease patients. This research employs a comparative analytical method, comparing the levels of Sodium, Potassium, and Chloride between the Indirect ISE and Direct ISE methods. The results of the study using examination method 1 (Indirect) obtained an average value of Sodium levels of 137.8 mmol/L. Potassium levels of 4.0 mmol/L. Chloride levels of 103.1 mmol/L and examination method 2 (Direct) obtained an average value of Sodium levels of 138.5 mmol/L. Potassium levels of 4.1 mmol/L. Chloride levels of 103.9 mmol/L.The data in this study were analyzed using the non-parametric Mann-Whitney test. The results showed the following p-values for Sodium, Potassium, and Chloride levels when comparing the Indirect ISE and Direct ISE methods: Sodium (p = 0.097), Potassium (p = 0.457), Chloride (p = 0.124). Since p > α (0.05), it can be concluded that H is accepted, meaning there is no significant difference in the average results between the Indirect ISE and Direct ISE methods.
